13th ANNUAL VINTAGE HUNTING AND FISHING COLLECTIBLES SHOW

January 25, 2020

Join us at the Level Volunteer Fire Hall from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for this unique show!  Numerous vendors will be exhibiting and selling old decoys, oyster cans, guns, ammo boxes, fishing lures, and more.  Admission fee: $6  Call 410-734-6238 or 410-378-3528 for more information.

MEET THE CARVER SERIES: JIM PIERCE

Come and meet the legend!  Mr. Pierce will share stories of the glory days of waterfowl hunting and decoy carving, the early days of the Museum, etc.  6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in our beautiful 2nd floor gallery.  Light refreshments will be provided.  $20 pp.

Canvasback Decoys WATERFOWL STUDY TRIP

February 23, 2020

Join us for a small group adventure to study North American Waterfowl and our coastal wetlands as a critical habitat.  We will travel via mini-bus to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and Upper and Middle Hoopers Island, departing from the Museum at 5:30 a.m. and returning at approximately 5:00 p.m.  Dress for the weather, bring your binoculars and camera, and plan to hike and learn from our instructors John Hughes and Tom Trafton.  A light breakfast will be provided; we will make a quick stop for lunch (on participants).  Minimum age:  12.  $75 pp.  Rain date in case of severe weather:  March 1, 2020.   Pre-registration required.

27th ANNUAL R. MADISON MITCHELL ENDOWMENT DINNER

The R. Madison Mitchell Endowment Dinner will be held on Friday, March 13th at the Bayou Restaurant. Cocktail hour:  6:00 p.m.; Dinner:  7:00 p.m; Program: 8:00 p.m.

39th ANNUAL HAVRE DE GRACE DECOY & WILDLIFE ART FESTIVAL

May 2 & 3, 2020

Decoy and Wildlife Art Festival.  Saturday: 8:30 – 6, Sunday: 10 – 4. Over 100 artists exhibiting and selling their art work, food, children’s activities, silent auctions, retriever demonstrations, carving competitions, and lots more. Show is located at the Havre de Grace Middle School and the Decoy Museum.

SPORTING CLAY CLASSIC

Sporting clays are back!  Join us at Schrader’s Outdoors, 16090 Oakland Road, Henderson MD.  Registration 8:30 a.m., must be on the course by 11:00 a.m.  50 Targets & Lunch – $70.  Trappers provided.

CHARLIE JOINER MEMORIAL DECOY SHOW

Join us for the 2nd Annual Charlie Joiner Memorial Decoy Show, to be held at the Galena Volunteer Fire Company, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  This show will feature decoys, fishing lures, shell boxes, oyster cans, fishing & hunting licenses, and much more!  Food will be available courtesy of the Galena Volunteer Fire Company & Auxiliary.  Admission fee: $5  For further information, please call 410-708-7011.

SPEAKER SERIES:  “A LEGACY OF WATERFOWLING”

C. John Sullivan, Jr., a nationally recognized expert on American wooden fowl, is both an appraiser and collector of decoys, firearms and other accoutrements used in the pursuit of waterfowl.  A historian by avocation, he has spent a lifetime researching the history of waterfowling in the Chesapeake region.  C. John will speak about the waterfowling history and early gunning clubs of the area which became the Edgewood and Aberdeen areas of the Proving Grounds.  6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Light refreshments will be provided.  $20/pp

ANNUAL CANDLELIGHT TOUR

A Havre de Grace community event incorporating a tour of historic homes, businesses and museums decorated for the season.  The Decoy Museum is always a stop on the tour, offering carver demonstrations, snacks, and of course, great sales in our Museum Store!  Tickets must be purchased for the home tours.
