With great pleasure we announce Rock Hall’s first annual Decoy Show and Sale. We are honoring the legacy of Rock Hall carvers Johnny Glenn, August Heinefield and Jesse Urie, three of the Chesapeake’s most important and influential decoy makers.
Best of Show
Our Best of Show is open to all vendors who wish to enter a working decoy from any, or all, of the three honorary carvers. You may enter one working style decoy each for Joht1t1y, August, or Jesse. One winner will be chosen for each carver. Winner will receive a 2022 Rock Hall Decoy Show Best of Show plaque and photographs of owner and decoy will be used for 2023 decoy show advertising. There is no fee to enter a decoy.
Amateur Duck Calling Contest
We will have an adult (IS and older) and junior (15 and under) competition. This is a free style competition.
You will have 60 seconds to best replicate the sound of ducks, with the object of sounding as realistic as possible. In the adult division, first place winner will receive $200, second place $100, and third place $50. In the Junior division first place will receive $100,second place $75 and third $50. Registration is $20 per adult and $10 per Junior contestant. Duck calling contest starts at l:00 pm and all contestants are required to sign in by 12:30 pm. All contestants agree for the committee to use photographs for future advertising.
Vendor Show and Sale
We have three categories for vendor opportunities. Buy, Sell and Swap is for anyone wanting to set up and sell or swap decoys, collectibles, antiques, and art. Marketplace is open to all artisans and handcrafted products. Exhibitors is for at1y0He wishit1g to set up at1d display only, their collection. Items for sale and display must depict nautical, wildlife, waterfowl, birds, at1d fish type items. Collectible items at1d at1tiques include the above, as well as oyster cans and other items related to hunting, fishing, and life on the shore. The fee for each vendor and exhibitor is $25.
